Calvin Harris and Lady Gaga kept their No. 1 positions on the new U.K. singles and album charts respectively, it was announced yesterday (Sunday).
Harris leads the singles survey for a second week with “I’m Not Alone” (Columbia/Sony BMG), ahead of a 4-2 climb for La Roux’s “In For The Kill” (Polydor/Universal). “Love Sex Magic” (Geffen) by Ciara featuring Justin Timberlake improved 6-5 and BeyoncĂ©’s “Halo” (Columbia/Sony BMG) 7-6, with Eminem’s “We Made You” (Interscope/Sony BMG) new at No. 8 and Lily Allen’s “Not Fair” (Regal/Parlophone/EMI) up 11-10.
“Fields Of Anfield Road” (Robot), the soccer-related single by the Liverpool Collective and the Kop Choir, climbed 16-14. The other new entry in the top 20 of the new singles chart was “No Time For Tears” (Warner Bros.) by English modern rock band the Enemy at No. 16. Miley Cyrus moved 49-24 with “The Climb” (Polydor/Universal) and Pink’s “Please Don’t Leave Me” (LaFace/Sony BMG) improved 28-23.
Britney Spears climbed ten places to No. 25 with “If U Seek Amy” (Jive/Sony BMG) and critically-favored electropop newcomer Frankmusik, the recording name of Vincent Frank, debuted at No. 26 with “Better Off As Two” (Universal Island). Green Day’s “Know Your
Enemy” (Reprise/Warner Music) opened at No. 30.
Lady Gaga’s “The Fame” (Interscope/Universal) leads the album survey for a third week, with Kings of Leon’s “Only By The Night” (Hand Me Down/Sony BMG) continuing its increasingly epic run by climbing back 3-2 in its 30th chart week. Doves fell a place from last week’s No. 2 entry with “Kingdom of Rust” (Heavenly/EMI) and veteran AC artist Chris De Burgh had the highest debut at No. 4 with “Footsteps” (Universal Music TV). It’s the first set of covers by an artist whose global album sales are put by the label at 45 million.

The new album chart also featured a No. 12 entry for Madeleine Peyroux’s “Bare Bones” (Rounder/Decca/Universal) and a No. 18 debut for UMTV’s new Dusty Springfield compilation “Just Dusty,” released to mark what would have been her 70th birthday on April 16.
U2’s “No Line on the Horizon” (Mercury/Universal) is in its sixth week at the summit of Billboard’s European Top 100 Albums chart, and it’s eight weeks at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles for Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.”
